In this lesson we will discuss:

  • Story seeds are the initial ideas or inspirations for your adventure game
  • A story seed should be something you are excited to develop
  • There is no right or wrong place to start, as long as it interests you
  • To generate ideas and inspiration, try narrowing down the context in which you’re working
  • There are three inspirational workouts to help you develop story seeds: Creature Feature, Character Connections, and Inspiration Boarding
  • Creature Feature involves tying two random creatures into one story
  • Character Connections involves tying a player character’s backstory into a story
  • Inspiration Boarding involves weaving a story based on three related fantasy art images
  • Pick one of the methods and develop a story seed and see what excites you about it.
